If your product’s UX doesn’t meet expectations, you could easily lose the users you’ve worked so hard to gain.

Let’s dive into how this week’s top products are performing in terms of user experience and what small improvements can make a big impact.

Wegic

  • The tool itself and the website are interesting.
  • The onboarding process interrupts the main flow without any prior warning, leaving users unsure of what's happening with their progress.
  • Navigation could be clearer—it's tough to find the main dashboard, which is hidden behind a very small, non-standard button.
  • Simple tasks, like making text bold or editing content, can be quite challenging and unintuitive.

💡 UX Tip:

  1. Streamline the onboarding flow, reassuring users that their progress is not lost.
  2. Improve the discoverability of key features like the dashboard.
  3. Simplify common tasks like - changing text to bold, or content editing.

Sagehood

  • The website needs some polishing, with a smoother flow and more consistent CTA design. Some buttons lack hover states, which can confuse users.
  • At one point, the onboarding flow broke entirely, causing me to abandon it.
  • The "Sagehood score" is mentioned, but it’s unclear how it’s calculated or what it means for the user.
  • Prompting the AI agent correctly might be challenging for some customers.

💡 UX Tip:

  1. Make CTAs consistent and interactive.
  2. Fix the onboarding flow.
  3. Clarify how the Sagehood score works, offering users more transparency and value.
  4. Provide examples of prompts for the AI agents.

21st Dev

  • The main CTA on the homepage looks too similar to the Product Hunt badge, making it hard for users to differentiate the two.

💡 UX Tip:

  1. Ensure your primary CTAs stand out visually to guide users toward the most important actions.

Folk – AI Follow-up

  • I really liked the website and the sample contacts they provided to test out the product. This made the experience more engaging and gave users something tangible to interact with. Also it fast tracks users to understand the value of the product.
  • Using AI to help with tedious tasks, integrated directly into your workflow, is a big win.

💡 UX Tip:

  1. Keep using examples to fast-track users to understand the value of the product.

Topview 2.0

  • The video demo and examples on the homepage gave a great preview of what the product does.
  • However, having the dashboard button on the homepage was a bit confusing, especially since it replaced the usual "Sign up" option.
  • The account creation modal overlaying a busy website with lots of movement in the background was distracting.
  • After clicking "Create Now," I expected to create an account, but instead, a login modal appeared with a somewhat hidden option to create a new account.
  • After generating a video, I couldn’t find it in the dashboard.

💡 UX Tip:

  1. Move the account creation process to a separate page to avoid distractions. Also, ensure there is an easy option to create a new account.
  2. Ensure the actions match user expectations—clicking "Create Now" should open a window to create a new account, and the dashboard button shouldn’t be on the main homepage.
  3. Ensure generated content is not lost.

Key takeaways

A strong Product Hunt launch brings attention, but without a seamless user experience, it’s easy for potential users to get lost in the shuffle.

Simple improvements in onboarding, navigation, and clarity can make a world of difference.
